About this course

A tremendous amount of information about our patient’s metabolism can be obtained from organic acid analysis, which is now one of our most valuable clinical assays. We can learn a lot about a huge range of conditions, most body systems, and accurately identify many therapeutic options.

We have a Functional Diagnostics Masterclass on Organic Acids and Neurotransmitter Interpretation (that you receive 30% off when you register for this class) and Richard Lord adds to it with this advanced class.

Dr Richard Lord has been a pioneer in medical laboratory analysis. He is a nutritional biochemist and was the Chief Science Officer at Metametrix for 25 years. He and Alexander Bralley wrote and edited the foundation textbook Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine.

Organic acids are metabolic byproducts that are not reabsorbed well by the kidneys so appear in the urine in much higher concentrations than in the blood or serum. Sometimes 100 times more concentrated. Because many of the processes generating organic acids are influenced by genes determining enzyme activity, organic acids are a useful proxy for the function of some genes.

Organic acid analysis can provide critical insights into:

  • Krebs cycle function and energy metabolism
  • Neurotransmitter levels
  • Nutritional and antioxidant status
  • Fatty acid metabolism
  • And many, many more processes
What you receive:
  • Clear protocol explanations from some of the world's top practitioners
  • Clinical pearls for improved practice results
  • Access to your audio and video recordings via the App Store
  • A downloadable PDF of the presenter’s slides
  • Links to all referenced research papers and useful clinical handouts
  • Access to the community hub where you can get answers to your questions
  • A 30-day money back guarantee

From this course you will

  • Receive cutting edge insights about amplifying biomarker sensitivities
  • Understand metabolic linkages in behavioural disorders
  • Discover a potential simple solution for detection of the elusive question of methylation capacity status
  • Diagnose genetic uniqueness from metabolic data

Dr Richard Lord

Dr Richard Lord PhD received his doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970 with studies of methods for protein tertiary structure measurements. From 1970 to 1973 he was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at the University of Arizona, conducting studies of the mechanism of insulin self association. From there he moved to a staff fellowship at NIH in Bethesda, MD to work in the Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Disease. Dr. Lord served as Professor and Chairman of Biochemistry at Life College for 10 years where he concurrently taught Advanced Clinical Nutrition and worked as part of the team that put in place a new undergraduate degree program in nutrition.

He has also has served as Clinical Laboratory Director at various facilities and has developed methods for analysis of trace elements, fatty acids, and organic acids. He is director of the Department of Science and Education at Metametrix Clinical Laboratory. He joined Metametrix Clinical Laboratory in 1989, where he has served as vice president of research and development and laboratory director.

His publications include articles in professional journals as well as books and laboratory manuals for college curricula including the text, Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine, used in this course.
