Giselle Cooke has practised wholistic & integrative medicine since graduating in Medicine from the UNSW in 1979. After training in Functional Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, western herbalism, nutrition and Ayurveda, she founded the multidisciplinary clinic, Pymble Grove Health Centre in 1989 on Sydney's Upper North Shore.
In 2003 she opened The Modern Apothecary, herbal dispensary & teahouse in Neutral Bay, offering prescription natural medicines and professional advice to customers in a natural pharmacy setting. Adjacent she opened Health Alchemy, a wellness practice, with a team of six practitioners. She collaborates with holistic dental colleagues at Lotus Dental/Lotus Health also in Neutral Bay, specialising in optimal wellness programs.
Giselle is the author of two books and innumerable health articles. She appeared monthly on a national ABC talkback radio program for four years and currently appears on Talking Lifestyle (954AM) weekly.
Amongst her political activities Giselle has served in an advisory capacity to government committees on complementary and alternative medicine over the past twenty years. She also served on the executive of the Australian Complementary Medicine Association, was convenor of Health Network Australia and spokesperson for the Complementary Health Care Council.
Giselle is now engaged in full-time PhD research with the University of Sydney School of Medical Sciences, into the underlying cause of male infertility. She is collaborating with both the University of NSW and the University of Newcastle, the latter where she is collaborating on equine infertility research.
