About this course

In this two-part series, you’ll delve into the concept of the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and how it affects patient care. As naturopathic doctors and holistic practitioners, many of us tend to attract a higher proportion of HSP patients - individuals who are more sensitive to environmental stimuli, emotions, and even treatments. Understanding the unique needs of HSP patients is critical to improving your clinical outcomes. This course will teach you how to identify these patients and adjust your treatment plans to better suit their heightened sensitivities, ultimately enhancing your clinical efficacy and minimising adverse reactions to therapies.

The first part of the series focuses on recognising the traits of HSPs and how these characteristics can influence their health, well-being, and responses to treatment. Many HSPs experience challenges such as heightened sensitivity to medications, stress, and even subtle changes in their environment. By learning how to identify these sensitivities early on, you can tailor your treatment protocols to be more effective while avoiding common side effects that may arise from standard approaches.

In the second part, you will learn strategies to help your HSP patients embrace their sensitivity as a strength rather than a burden. The lecture will cover practical tools you can provide to help patients manage overstimulation, reduce stress, and navigate their health journey with more self-awareness and empowerment. These strategies will not only support their overall well-being but also increase the likelihood of long-term success with your prescribed therapies.

By the end of the series, you will have a deeper understanding of how to work with HSP patients more effectively, ensuring that your treatments are aligned with their unique needs. This course will enhance your ability to create personalised, sensitive care plans that help HSP patients thrive while reducing the likelihood of overwhelming them with traditional treatment methods.
