About this course

Keeping up to date is necessary but not always easy; there is an enormous amount of new data coming through on natural medicine.

Dr Alan Gaby is one of the most respected names in our industry and is an assiduous follower of the medical publications. Each year he prepares a summary of the most useful clinical findings in natural health care. He will cover a number of conditions and nutrients in the discussion and share how he feels each of these findings are relevant to patient care.

  • The vitamin D supplementation controversy
  • Accuracy of vitamin D testing
  • Fish oil and risk of perioperative bleeding
  • Black elderberry for respiratory infections
  • Vegan diet and its effect on inflammation
  • Effects of gluten on Tourette syndrome and schizophrenia
  • Nutrient effects on autism
  • Probiotics and periodontal disease
  • Vitamin C and fractures
  • Alpha-lipoic acid and tinnitus

A particular topic that Alan has been investigating is the very interesting issue of research fraud. Alan gives some compelling evidence that fake papers are being published in high numbers from specific countries. Being alert for and able to spot these is critical for our industry.
