FERRITIN; A KEY PLAYER IN MENTAL HEALTH with Kristen Allott - 1.5 hours
Ferritin is a marker of iron storage in blood, which can be independently low from hematocrit indices. Use this lab to rule out causes of fatigue and depression. The laboratory ranges of ferritin are not set based on research but on statistics. This leaves many people who are iron deficient undiagnosed and presenting with symptoms of fatigue and depression when the actual cause is low iron. Dr. Allott will review the studies and important iron deficiency rule-outs and discuss treatment options.
Learn what ferritin is, the normal range and why this may be problematic Understand the research Learn how ferritin applies to mental health, fatigue and endurance Understand conditions the should be ruled out for low or high ferritin Learn how to treat low iron and when to consider IV infusion
